The commission also approved awarding a jail-based substance-abuse prevention and treatment program to Sandstone Psychology, with staff noting the state will subsidize most weekly costs. One item — dental services for the jail — had only one bid and the sheriff’s office requested additional discussion; commissioners deferred action and asked to place the item on the next meeting agenda.
Commissioners discussed adopting a transparent local-bidder preference for future procurements and asked staff and legal counsel to bring proposed procurement- preference language back to a future meeting.
