After a public hearing, the Millard County Commission adopted a resolution to transfer about 2.75 acres (Parcel F70551) to the Millard County School District so the district can expand soccer and baseball facilities near the middle and elementary schools.
The commission opened the public hearing to receive comment on the land transfer. Dennis Aldens, who spoke during public comment, said the parcel already contains concrete and water lines and described the school district’s intent to own and operate expanded fields. "They just want the land so that the district can own it outright and run it the way they want to," Aldens said, noting prior cooperative arrangements among city, county and district.
Commissioners said county residents would still be allowed to use the fields on occasion under agreements similar to local practice at other school-owned fields. After closing the hearing, the commission moved, seconded and adopted resolution 26-3-3 (F70551) transferring the parcel to the school district.
Staff said the district will proceed with field preparations; commissioners cautioned that the parcel will not be ready for the current soccer season but could be available for future seasons as improvements are completed.
