The Isanti County Board approved a cooperative engineering and construction agreement with the City of Grama for County Road 54 corridor and utility improvements.
County Highway Engineer Justin Bergerson outlined the project limits and said the city will lead design and construction bidding while the county will review plans, enforce county road standards and provide paving and drainage inspection. Bergerson said the county’s estimated participation in eligible roadway and drainage construction costs is approximately $1,060,000; the total engineer’s estimate for the project was about $2,480,000, with the balance funded by the city.
Bergerson said funding would come from levy dollars and the county’s road and bridge fund balance; county finance staff confirmed the fund balance can cover the estimated county share. On a motion and second, the board approved the cooperative agreement and authorized the board chair and county administrator to execute it.
The agreement aligns the county and city work to avoid replacing pavement twice and to coordinate utility and roadway schedules; final costs will be finalized after bidding and final measured quantities.
