Isanti County board approves plats and land-use permits, imposes conditions

The Isanti County Board on Dec. 16 approved several Planning Commission recommendations covering subdivision and land-use permits.
Planning staff described a preliminary plat for Westside Woodlands (32536 Jackson Road NE in Cambridge Township), a two-lot division of a 20-acre parcel with reported Type 1 and 3 wetlands and completed soil borings. The Planning Commission recommended approval with four conditions; the board approved the recommendation by motion and voice vote.
A conditional-use request for a rural tourism event center at 9737 Hwy 95 NE (North Branch) was untabled from a previous hearing but, with no applicant present, the Planning Commission's recommendation to deny was accepted by the board and the conditional-use permit was denied.
The board also approved an amendment to an interim-use permit for storage of bulk containers on Tucker Street (29750 Tucker St NE) with amended compliance dates and retained the original findings and conditions (17 conditions). Planning staff and neighbors discussed screening and fencing updates and staged compliance dates (screening by March 1; containers by July 1) to resolve neighbor concerns.
Finally, the board approved a permit for a pit/gravel operation near the county line (Peterson Sisters LLC, Dalbo Township) with 18 conditions including road paving, directional signage to limit heavy-equipment routing, and coordination with the neighboring county's highway engineer.
Planning staff said the approvals include findings and conditions designed to protect neighbors and county roads; the motions were approved by voice votes.
