Committee adopts American Heart Month resolution for 'Go Red' day

The State Senate Health and Human Services committee unanimously approved a substitute to S.R. 684, a resolution recognizing American Heart Month and marking the Capitol’s participation in the American Heart Association’s Go Red day activities.
Senator Halpern urged the committee to adopt the resolution so it would be in place for the organization’s red-day event at the Capitol and to highlight public education efforts about CPR and automated external defibrillators. "We will be able to talk about CPR and AEDs and all of the things that we have often worked on in terms of pieces of legislation in this committee," Halpern said.
The motion to adopt the substitute was made from the floor, seconded, and the chair announced the measure passed without recorded opposition. No witnesses registered opposition during the brief discussion, and committee members expressed general support for recognizing heart-health outreach.
The committee moved on to its next item after the vote.
