Legislators press Gadsden County on project readiness and local investment

Simon repeatedly warned that a packet line item described as a countywide lighting request contained an implausible number in the materials ($13,000,005,549,239.12 as shown in the packet). He told the meeting that figure appears to be a transcription or typographical error and asked the county to provide a corrected, verified total; county staff did not provide an authoritative revised number during the meeting.

County staff said they will share grant‑by‑grant updates with the delegation before legislators leave so the public can see which projects are immediately ready to move and which need further clarification. The senator and county leadership agreed to follow up with site visits and public briefings so the whole community can track progress.
