Committee advances three executive reappointments to the consent calendar

Tim Engle, an attorney and registered lobbyist for the South Dakota Science and Technology Authority, spoke in favor of Ronald Wheeler’s reappointment, noting Wheeler’s long service to the authority and his prior role standing up the organization and operating the Sanford Lab in Lead. "He's an attentive and effective board member...he's prepared," Engle said, urging the committee to confirm Wheeler.
The committee reported a vote of seven yeas with three excused on Wheeler’s reappointment and the chair indicated it would be placed on the consent calendar. Quentin Riggins, who spoke to the committee about his background and prior appointments to the Ellsworth Development Authority, received a motion to advise and consent that the secretary reported as passing with eight yays and one excused. The committee also approved the reappointment of Galen Niederwerder to the Ellsworth Development Authority by similar roll call, and that item will be placed on the consent calendar.
All three reappointments were handled with brief proponent testimony and no opponent testimony was presented during the hearing.
