An external auditor told the Bellevue Public Schools board that the district27s financial statements received an unmodified opinion and single-audit testing of three federal programs uncovered no compliance findings or material weaknesses.
Tim Luntz of Burton KDB presented the district27s audit report and told the board the audit provided an unmodified (clean) opinion on the financial statements, which are prepared on a cash basis. "Our audit report gives an unmodified opinion over those financial statements," he said, and added that the statements are presented in accordance with standards and are "materially correct."
Luntz explained that Bellevue qualifies for a single audit because it spends more than $750,000 in federal funds; the audit team tested three major federal programs this year: the child nutrition cluster, the special education cluster, and a Department of Defense education grant. He reported no material weaknesses and no compliance findings from that testing.
Board members asked about the timing of the audit and why the district reports on a cash basis. Luntz said Nebraska allows districts to use a cash basis and that many districts do so; he also noted the close turnaround between the district27s Aug. 31 year end and the state filing deadline.
The board thanked the audit team for the work; there was no formal action recorded on the audit itself.
