Sunset council approves Meadow Park Townhomes developer agreement

The Sunset City Council voted to approve a developer agreement for Meadow Park Townhomes on March 3, 2026, clearing the way for the project to finish existing foundations and proceed toward construction.

Developer representative Caden Handy told the council the site is the former Alby Townhomes parcel west of Smith’s, just before the train tracks, and said the current owner plans to complete the units “just gonna make that small with us… finish it up for you.” Handy said the foundation work already exists and the new owner is proposing to build to the prior plans.

Mayor (speaker 1) called for a motion after discussion. The mayor recorded a motion to approve the agreement by Council member Ridley with a second by Council member Carson; the council voted aye and the motion passed. Councilors and staff noted the developer must schedule and complete a pre-construction meeting with public works and obtain required permits before starting work.

Public-works staff and the developer discussed scheduling: the city requested a pre-construction meeting before permits are pulled so inspections and sequencing can be coordinated. Council members and staff also encouraged the developer to work with the city’s planning and public-works offices to ensure code compliance and timely inspection sign-offs.

The council thanked the developer for bringing the project forward and said they look forward to seeing the site completed.
