Elmore County honors Redland Middle coach and nurse credited with saving student

The Elmore County Commission on Feb. 24 adopted a resolution honoring coach Jason Hall and nurse Kristen Wright for resuscitating a Redland Middle School student, actions county leaders said played a pivotal role in saving the child's life.

The resolution, read aloud by the chair at the Feb. 24 meeting, says Hall and Wright performed several rounds of CPR and used an automated external defibrillator on student Colton Kramer before he was airlifted to a children's hospital; hospital staff informed the family the pair's actions were critical to stabilizing the student. The document notes Hall has taught 23 years, 20 of them in Elmore County, and that Wright has practiced nursing for 15 years, including four years with Elmore County Schools.

"Job well done," Commissioner Hill said during the meeting, praising the quick action and saying, "He's alive, and that's what counts." Chair (speaker 1) told the school representatives the commission appreciated their service and planned to present the signed resolution and take a photograph after retrieving the printed copy.

The resolution was moved, seconded and approved unanimously on a roll-call vote during the business session. The commission presented the document to school representatives at the meeting.

The action does not impose new policy or funding; it is a formal commendation recognizing the staff members' emergency response. The commission did not discuss additional training or funding measures tied to the incident during the Feb. 24 meeting.

Next steps: the commission completed the recognition and will keep the matter on record; no further county action on the case was announced at the meeting.
