Mayor Alexis Hermosillo presented El Mirage's 2025–26 digital State of the City on Feb. 18, outlining recent investments and priorities as the city marks its 75th anniversary.
In the presentation the mayor said the city invested nearly $47 million in capital infrastructure and public safety over the last seven years, facilitated more than 1.2 million square feet of new industrial and commercial development since 2020 and recorded roughly 1,200 new jobs tied to that growth. The administration also highlighted financial stewardship: the city earned a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting for 14 consecutive years and has reduced the primary property tax rate for seven consecutive years (a cumulative decline of about 29.7% according to the presentation).
The mayor announced plans for a three‑day 75th‑anniversary fiesta in June that will include live music and a drone show in place of fireworks, expansion of parks and recreation programs with a new 10‑year parks plan and the creation of a city youth advisory commission recently passed by council. The presentation noted continued allocation of roughly half of the general fund for police and fire operations and a goal to enhance city communications, including an expanded mailed newsletter and digital alerts (MyAlerts exceeding 15,000 subscribers).
Council thanked the mayor and staff for the presentation; the information provided formed the backdrop for later agenda items including the anniversary mural project and special events planning.
