Local developmental‑disability provider tells South Russell council it served 1,200 people last year

At the March 2 meeting of the South Russell Village Council, a representative from the local developmental‑disabilities board described the organization’s services and recent outcomes.

Dave Carlson, identifying himself as a representative of the Joggy Academy Board of Developmental Disabilities (referred to in the presentation as the Medicine Boss Center), briefed the council on the agency’s range of services: early intervention delivered in family homes, school‑age supports, transition planning for students approaching graduation, vocational supports that have led to competitive employment, and residential supports for adults. "Last year, we served over 1,200 people in Naugat County," Carlson told the council.

Carlson said the program serves county residents across the age span, from infants to people in their 80s, and noted the center partners with more than 159 area businesses that employ people supported by the agency. He described residential facilities the organization maintains and said two of four houses on Cedar Road are currently occupied. The presentation included a handout with numbers and program highlights that Carlson left with council members.

Council members thanked the presenters and asked a few follow‑ups about partnerships with local employers. The presentation did not propose any council action but served as an informational update to the village on county social‑service capacity and local employment supports for people with disabilities.
