Committee advances proposal to waive drainage-easement requirement in Parkland 100-year floodplain

A joint committee of the Zoning and Planning Commission discussed a proposed code amendment that would waive the requirement for a drainage easement in the 100-year floodplain for Parkland areas and is advancing the item to the Planning Commission.
Commissioner Taylor Major told the commission the committee considered the change and that it is “moving forward to the Planning Commission maybe next week.” Major described this as part of ongoing coordination between working groups from both commissions, which are preparing a draft resolution outlining the division of labor between the Zoning and Planning Commission and the Planning Commission.
Chair Hank Smith and other commissioners acknowledged the update; no formal vote on the code change occurred in the recorded discussion and Major said only that the committee would transmit the item to the Planning Commission for further consideration.
If the Planning Commission takes up the item, further hearings or reviews will be scheduled according to normal commission procedures.
