Summary
The Board approved three IT requisitions including a network firewall purchase (R260870) not to exceed $648,225.43, a network assessment for $68,500, and a CivicPlus renewal for $102,131.67; IT said a $654,000 grant will largely fund the firewall project.
The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners on March 3 approved three information-technology requisitions to shore up county network security and services.
Manny Bellerino, reporting for the Department of Information Technology, said the county’s network status is "green" but noted heightened cybersecurity awareness. He told commissioners the board will approve a network firewall replacement and related services. The board approved requisition R260870 with E Plus Technology for a firewall replacement not to exceed $648,225.43 after a motion by Commissioner Rich and a roll-call vote.
Bellerino said the county also secured a grant from the state and a public-safety funding source "to the tune of about $654,000," which he said will fund principal hardware for the firewall project. He said the equipment could arrive late March or early April and that some software updates may be completed offline prior to installation.
The board also approved requisition R261625 with E Plus Technology for a network assessment and remediation not to exceed $68,500 (moved by Commissioner Van Dorn) and R261680 with CivicPlus for an enterprise renewal not to exceed $102,131.67 (moved by Commissioner Soloway). Each item passed by roll call.
Bellerino described other IT work underway: Route 12 infrastructure phase 1 is live (Building 5B is on the new infrastructure), a Route 12 fiber site survey is scheduled, a ServiceNow rollout is underway, and the county is planning a website redesign and .gov adoption. He added the IT team is coordinating a power-down and resiliency work for a new courtroom in the justice center.
Officials said the firewall purchase and assessment are meant to reduce risk and to implement recommended security controls; staff did not present alternatives to the vendor selections during the meeting.
Next steps: the vendor requisitions were approved by roll call; staff will schedule equipment delivery and implementation and proceed with the ServiceNow and website projects as described.
