The Orange County Board of Supervisors, during a closed-session readout, unanimously approved a proposed $375,000 compromise and release in a workers' compensation lawsuit brought by Sergio Juan Sharma against the County of Orange, County Counsel reported.
County Counsel told the board the case — referred to on the agenda as SCS 4 — involved a retired social services agency data‑entry technician who alleged cumulative trauma to her spine, wrists, back and shoulders. The board’s approval was described as a proposed settlement that remains subject to finalization and any other required approvals; when the agreement is finalized, copies will be made available through the CEO’s risk‑management office, the counsel said.
The readout did not include a roll‑call vote tally beyond the statement that the board acted unanimously. No additional terms beyond the $375,000 compromise amount were announced at the meeting. The County Counsel noted the settlement remains subject to final approval of others and formal documentation before the county makes copies available to the public.
The board announced the public portion of the meeting afterward and did not take further public action on the case during the session. The meeting record lists the settlement under the closed‑session item SCS 4 and indicates the board merely reported the reportable action back to the public at the meeting’s start.
The next regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors was announced at adjournment as 09:30 on 08/27/2024.
