Morrisville unveils public strategic-plan dashboard to share town performance data

Paul Hassard, strategic performance manager, demonstrated the dashboard hosted on the town’s open data portal and described its interactive features, including slicers by department, greenhouse-gas and energy visualizations, performance measures tied to the town’s strategic plan, and short interview segments with town staff for context. Hassard said most metrics are updated monthly and consolidated on the 15th of the following month; some data are pulled automatically while other measures rely on manual entry synced from a SharePoint spreadsheet.
Council questions: Members asked whether the dashboard shows a last-update timestamp (it did not at presentation time) and whether a more prominent link could be placed on the town homepage. Hassard said communications staff is exploring homepage placement and that adding a visible “last updated” date is on his list of improvements. He also said 2025 data on some charts reflected 11 months of information and would be complete after December data were added.
Context and next steps: Councilmembers generally praised the tool as improving transparency and internal performance measurement. Staff said the dashboard will be iteratively improved with user feedback, additional metrics and an accompanying strategic-planning web page. The presentation concluded with council members offering specific suggestions — such as adding project lists, clarifying chart axes, and including a refresh date — which staff agreed to incorporate.
