Mount Clemens announces Cracker and Market Street paving projects for 2015

The city manager highlighted Cracker Street paving from northbound Gratiot to Harper, with construction expected to begin around May 2015 and final completion anticipated in August 2015. Market Street paving, from northbound Gratiot to North Avenue, is expected to start in July 2015 and be completed by September 2015.
Officials said there are no special assessments associated with these two projects. The manager identified funding sources as the Priority Road Improvement Program (PRIP) and the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) administered through SEMCOG and MDOT; staff said projects must be submitted for selection through those programs.
A commissioner asked whether other streets might be added under the same funding mechanisms; staff said it was unlikely for this year but that applications could be submitted next year.
The commission did not vote on project authorizations at this meeting; the report was informational.
