Mount Clemens approves Macomb County blanket permit, consent agenda and highlights $100,000 United Way grant

The Mount Clemens City Commission approved a resolution authorizing the city manager to sign a Macomb County Department of Roads blanket permit that allows the city to perform general road maintenance and emergency repairs within county right-of-way from Feb. 1, 2026, through Feb. 1, 2031.
The commission also approved routine purchases and payments and passed the consent agenda without separate debate.
In his city-manager report, Shipman announced the downtown revitalization project’s nomination for a 2026 Macomb Business Award, described how residents can report potholes to the Street Department, publicized youth basketball registration and community events including an Easter egg hunt and the relocated Mount Clemens Farmers Market (opening May 2 at the Roskop parking lot behind the Anton Arts Center), and said the city received a $100,000 United Way Summer Discovery Grant to support summer day-camp scholarships (roughly $2,000 per child for up to 50 children).
Public comment also included a resident report of inconsistent trash and recycling service and broken glass left by the contractor; commissioners said they will follow up with staff.
What happens next: the city manager will sign paperwork for the Macomb County blanket permit and staff will continue outreach on the Farmers Market move and event logistics.
