Manchester issues proclamations honoring Garden Club centennial, Cheek's Chicken and Irish Heritage Month

At the start of the meeting Mayor Jay Moran read three ceremonial proclamations. He recognized the Manchester Garden Club for 100 years of civic beautification, thanking generations of volunteers for planting and maintaining town gardens and supporting local institutions.
A representative of the Manchester Garden Club thanked the board and said the club remains committed to service and stewardship: "A century ago, seeds were planted. Today, we are honored to see how those roots have grown," the representative said.
Mayor Moran also formally recognized Asim/Haseem Ahmed of Cheek's Chicken and Waffles for offering free meals during a pause in supplemental nutrition benefits and for community leadership. Finally, the mayor proclaimed March 2026 Irish Heritage Month to honor the historical contributions of Irish immigrants to Manchester.
These proclamations were ceremonial and did not require board action beyond acceptance and public recognition.
