Board advances e-bike safety ordinance after supervisors cite soaring injuries

The OC Traffic Committee, which includes representatives from local law enforcement and community members, provided technical input and a letter of support from the Sheriff’s Office was noted in the public record. Supervisor Foley also thanked traffic-committee appointees who helped shape the item.
The board moved and approved the ordinance on first reading without recorded opposition. The county set the second reading and adoption for June 25, allowing time for any additional community input.
What happens next: the ordinance will return for a second reading and formal adoption; staff and committee members continue outreach and enforcement planning.
