Belmont City Council voted to enter a closed session at the Sept. 24 special meeting to discuss economic-development matters related to the location or expansion of industries or other businesses.
The mayor moved to go into closed session citing North Carolina General Statute as read in the meeting and named participants to be included in that session. The motion identified Tim Johnston (as read), Riley/Raleigh Klein (two spellings appear in the meeting packet and staff remarks), Kevin Krause and company representatives as invitees. The motion to enter closed session was moved and seconded (motion by Jason, second by Charlie) and was approved by voice vote.
The meeting paused so nonparticipants could vacate the chamber before the council convened the closed session. No substance from the closed session was disclosed at the end of the public portion of the meeting.
