Farmington City Council confirmed Shauna Reeves as city manager during its organizational meeting and approved several other officer appointments and leadership roles.
Mayor Duckett nominated Shauna Reeves for city manager; after remarks from outgoing City Manager Rob Mayes and endorsements from councilors, the council voted unanimously to confirm Reeves. Rob Mayes, who has served in the role for 20 years, urged the council that preparing a succession plan was "my number 1 responsibility," and Mayor Duckett said Mayes will remain on contract to support Reeves through 06/30/2026.
The meeting also approved several other appointments: Jennifer Bridal as city attorney, Andrea Jones as city clerk, and Jim Cox as city treasurer/chief financial strategy officer. The council elected Councilor Linda Rogers to serve as Mayor Pro Tem for the next two years. Each nomination was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote or a unanimous tally (motions recorded as carrying 4-0 where tallies were stated).
Councilors and staff framed the votes as routine organizational business intended to ensure continuity of city services during the leadership transition. Reeves thanked the council and staff, saying she was "humbled" and acknowledged the magnitude of the role while committing to support the workforce and community during the handoff.
The council noted a formal amendment to Rob Mayes's contract will appear on a forthcoming agenda for finalization; Mayor Duckett said that will allow a several-month overlap so Reeves can be fully briefed and supported.
What happens next: the contract amendment for Rob Mayes will be on the next Tuesday agenda for formal action, and Reeves will assume duties under a new contract while Mayes remains available through June 30, 2026 to assist the transition.
