Belmont City Council on Sept. 24 amended its special-meeting agenda after staff said the applicant for SUP 145103 on Casa Street withdrew the application.
The city manager told the council the applicant had submitted a notarized letter requesting removal and that planning staff supported taking the public-hearing items off the agenda. "The applicant for the public hearing of SUP 145103 Casa Street special use permit withdrew their application, given that they are a light industrial manufacturer rather than a heavy industrial manufacturer," the city manager said.
Council moved to set the agenda with the requested removals and renumbering; the motion was seconded and the mayor called for a voice vote, declaring the amended agenda adopted. The change removes the scheduled public hearing and related review that had been listed as items C-1 and C-2.
Why it matters: removing a public hearing for a special-use permit ends the local review process that would have allowed public testimony at this meeting. Planning staff told the council the withdrawal was documented with a notarized letter and that the item should be removed from the posted agenda.
The council proceeded with other business, including a consent agenda and informational updates, before moving into a closed session later in the meeting.
