"Our second quarter was accepted for the budget, from DFA, so we are in compliance," the manager said, noting department heads received budget worksheets and that staff expect department presentations and a special meeting for the FY process.
The manager also told the commission that District 9 received an early access regional planning grant worth $2,000,000, with Curry County serving as the fiscal agent. The scope and specific uses of the grant were not finalized at the meeting; staff suggested potential uses could include court services, detention-related planning or drug-court elements but said the county will need to participate in planning discussions across the district to define the work.
Commissioners asked staff to expand on the grant and how the county will participate. The manager said officials will follow up once grant administrators define allowable uses and report back to the commission.
No formal votes were required for the announcement; staff will return with additional details and presentations as the planning process and budget schedules proceed.
