The Orange County Board of Supervisors approved multiple John Wayne Airport concession actions on July 23, including amendments to rental-car agreements and the award of an on-airport concession lease to 6 Rent A Car LLC.
Representatives of national rental-car brands thanked airport director Charlene Reynolds and staff for addressing concerns and negotiating contract changes. "We truly appreciate that partnership and believe the airport staff worked hard," Thomas Klingler of Enterprise Mobility said. Aaron Schwarzkopf of Avis Budget echoed that the airport listened and worked toward a reasonable compromise.
Supervisor Foley, moving the item, said the seat had been vacant and that the award would generate nearly $7 million a year for the airport over the next seven years. Board members voted to approve the amendments and lease award.
The actions are intended to increase on-site vendor participation, reduce through-traffic and generate airport revenue; staff will execute related documents and minor modifications as authorized.
