Brentwood board approves beer-permit ownership change for restaurant at 209 Franklin Road

The Brentwood Licensing Board approved a change in ownership on a restaurant’s on-premises beer permit for Next Restaurants LLC, which operates the site identified in the application as Mexican From Scratch / Savage Burrito at 209 Franklin Road.

Madison Smith, who identified herself to the board as representing Uncle Julio’s, appeared with a staff member to answer questions. "My name is Madison Smith. I'm here to represent Uncle Julio's," Smith said, adding she and the team were available to respond to board inquiries.

A staff member told the board there would be "no real changes at the restaurant" and that the on-site team remained in place after what the staff member described as an Article 9 foreclosure and a subsequent lease-transfer lapse. The staff member said the operation maintains Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) certifications for managers and servers as part of its safety procedures.

When the board asked about age verification, the staff member responded that the restaurant cards patrons who appear 40 and younger and records birth dates to verify ages. "40 and 40 and under we're carding," the staff member said, adding that staff also record birth dates to help confirm identification.

Following the brief questions and clarifications, a board member moved to approve the application; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board did not announce a roll-call tally on the record. After approving the permit, the board took up no additional new business and adjourned.

The action means the licensing board has cleared the administrative change in ownership; the board did not place additional operating conditions on the permit during the meeting.
