Commission elects chair and vice chair; members flag e‑bike behavior and traffic‑calming updates

The Traffic Safety and Mobility Commission installed new leadership and heard member comments urging outreach to cyclists and updates on traffic‑calming work.

John Kim, the city traffic engineer and temporary liaison to the commission, outlined the powers and duties of the chair and vice chair and noted appointments will run until February 2027.

Nominations followed. A commissioner nominated a member identified in the meeting only by the first name Josh for chair; the nomination was seconded and the commission approved the appointment by voice vote. Pete, likewise identified only by his first name in the meeting, was nominated and elected vice chair.

Another member responded that three local bicycle clubs generally enforce laws and suggested that commissioners notify staff when they see noncompliant riders.

Staff reported operational follow-ups: Kim said staff have adjusted speed cushions on Cadencia and are arranging similar adjustments on Corintia. He reminded commissioners the traffic‑calming fund/program will be brought back to the commission for review (staff stated February as the target month).
