County launches Fix It Marin app, pauses Corte Madera Creek project and highlights SBA disaster loan help

County Executive Derek Johnson told the Board of Supervisors on Feb. 24 that the county launched Fix It Marin, a mobile app for residents of unincorporated Marin to report nonemergency issues and track responses.
"It's a new simple way for residents to report on nonemergency issues in unincorporated areas," Johnson said, describing the app's ability to submit photos and geolocated reports for potholes, dumping, streetlight outages, fallen trees and missing signs.
Johnson also said staff has paused work on the Corte Madera Creek flood project to conduct a comprehensive re-read of project goals and assumptions so future work reduces flood risk and adapts to climate change. "This allows us the opportunity to step back, reassess our approach, and ensure we're making responsible decisions on behalf of the community," he said.
On disaster recovery, county staff and a presenter from the Small Business Administration described low-interest disaster loans available to homeowners, renters, business owners and small nonprofits following January storms, and noted local customer service centers. Johnson reiterated application deadlines provided during the presentation: April 6 for loans for physical damage and Nov. 3 to cover economic injury.
The board did not amend the rollout plan and asked staff to continue configuring the app, including Spanish-language features and response time measures, and to coordinate local SBA outreach.
