Flower Mound honors late Police Lieutenant Suzanne Reed; flag ordered at half-staff

At the start of the Jan. 2 meeting, the mayor asked the council and audience to join in a moment of silence for Lieutenant Suzanne Reed of the Flower Mound Police Department, who died over the weekend following a medical emergency while off duty.
The mayor summarized Reed’s service, saying she began with the department in 2006 and served as a patrol officer, crisis negotiator team leader, detective, patrol sergeant and most recently as a support services lieutenant. The mayor noted Reed was twice named the Flower Mound Police Department officer of the year (2014) and received a recognition from the Texas Senate. The mayor said Reed’s wife, Jill, and her colleagues would miss her and requested the town flag be flown at half-staff until Reed’s burial, with flags returning to full staff at the close of day on Friday, Jan. 8.
The council and audience observed a moment of silence before proceeding with the invocation and pledge of allegiance.
