Residents urge Flower Mound officials to press LISD on proposed DAP relocation

Two Flower Mound residents used public comment to ask the town council to raise local concerns with Lewisville Independent School District over a proposed change to the district's Disciplinary Alternative Placement program.
"The potential relocation of the disciplinary alternative education program called DAP ... from its current dedicated standalone facility ... to existing regular elementary campuses," Jason Martin said, "marks a major change" that could erode perceptions of school safety and reputation and "have ripple effects on our community." Martin said the change was discussed at an LISD board work session and could be implemented as early as the 2026–27 school year; he urged the council to voice community concerns to LISD leadership.
Keith Digen, whose son attends Old Settlers Elementary, told the council parents received limited explanation in district communications and that the change felt "slid under the surface." Digen said he had not seen a cost–benefit analysis or clear information on how the district would maintain independent operation of the program within shared campuses.
Council chair confirmed public comment procedures and said the remarks would be taken into consideration; no formal council action on the LISD matter was recorded during the meeting. Residents asked the town to help amplify community concerns to district leadership so LISD officials have an opportunity to respond and provide additional detail.
