Council moves into closed session under Virginia code, then adjourns
Summary

The City Council convened and the presiding Chair called the meeting to order at 05:59. The Chair moved to adopt the agenda "as presented," a motion that was seconded and approved by roll call.
The Chair moved that the council enter a closed session, citing "pursuant to section 2.2-3711.81, Code of Virginia 1950 as amended," stating the purpose as discussion, consideration or interviews of prospective candidates and other appointments and personnel matters. The motion was seconded and approved by roll call; the council recessed into the closed session.
After returning from the closed session, the Chair said, "By roll call vote, council members certify that only business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements and specified motion to convene the executive session were discussed." Council members Barnum, Littleton, Alcorn, Pollard and Holmes responded "Yes" to that certification.
Finally, a member moved to adjourn; the motion was seconded, the clerk called the roll, and Barnum, Littleton, Osborne, Pollard and Holmes answered "Yes." The Chair declared the meeting adjourned.
