TLR representatives said the state has $215,000 remaining in resource‑damage funds and that partnering with the county would strengthen a GOCO application.
Pat Willets (TLR) said the organization has raised local matching funds and that the concept paper is due Thursday; if invited, TLR would prepare a full application. Commissioners confirmed the county budget includes a $10,000 allocation from the conservation trust fund for this project and voted unanimously to authorize the joint application.
Commissioners and TLR noted the parcel’s high conservation value because it lies within a matrix of Forest Service holdings and could resolve land‑use conflicts and restore impacted mining sites. Staff and TLR will proceed with the concept submission and, if invited, submit the full GOCO proposal with county participation and the previously budgeted contribution.
