The Ouray County Board of County Commissioners unanimously adopted Resolution 2026-005 on Feb. 10 supporting the Silver Mountain Mine acquisition project, a land-conservation effort advanced by the Trust for Land Restoration.
Pat Willets, representing the trust, told commissioners the group had received an invitation to submit a full proposal to the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund for a $180,000 grant to support acquisition. Willets said project partners have worked on this effort for years and that local stakeholders, including ORCA, had expressed unanimous support at a recent meeting.
A commissioner moved to adopt the resolution, and the motion carried. The resolution will be signed jointly by the trust and Ouray County; Willets indicated the trust's board chair would be the signatory for the nonprofit partner.
