Councilman Kaneko called the Feb. 10 Public Safety Committee to order, recorded attendance, and the committee approved the minutes dated Jan. 13, 2026 after a motion to approve was made and carried.
The chair then introduced Ordinance 26‑008, which would amend the grant budget to appropriate $40,994 in emergency illegal‑drug enforcement funds from the State of Delaware to be administered by the Division of Police; the ordinance was announced for consideration at the full council meeting on Feb. 24.
Councilman Toole described the appropriation as "a little over almost $41,000" and said the funding will support overtime and equipment purchases to assist the drug unit with surveillance, investigations and special operations. No council vote on the ordinance was taken at the committee meeting. There was no public comment in chambers or online on either the minutes or the ordinance.
A motion to adjourn was made and seconded later in the meeting and the committee voted to adjourn.
