The Brentwood City Commission opened its Jan. 12 meeting with a ceremony recognizing three newly promoted Brentwood Fire lieutenants and later witnessed oath ceremonies for two police officers.
At the start of the meeting the fire chief introduced the department’s three newest lieutenants and described the role as the key link between strategy and street‑level operations. The chief said the promotions reflect departmental growth rather than vacancies and noted it was “arguably the most important job that wears this patch.”
The new lieutenants introduced in the meeting were Robin Thorpe, who the chief identified as the first female to test and promote into a lieutenant position at Brentwood Fire and will be assigned to Engine 54; Kyle Shank, to be assigned to Ladder 53; and Brandon James, assigned to Engine 54 C shift. Family members pinned the honorees during the brief ceremony.
Later in the meeting Chief Colvin introduced and administered the oath of office to two new Brentwood police officers. Trayvon Davis (introduced as a recent graduate of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy) and Kyle Riddle (noted as a criminal justice graduate in the transition academy) each took the statutory oath to support the U.S. and Tennessee constitutions and to faithfully discharge the duties of a police officer.
Commissioners and attendees congratulated the new officers and thanked department staff, human resources and volunteers for their support.
What’s next: The promotions and oathings are ceremonial recognition of departmental staffing decisions; no personnel actions requiring further commission approval were recorded during the meeting.
