During the county administrative report on Oct. 22, the county administrator updated supervisors on several capital and staffing matters.
The courthouse project across the street is nearing completion and Hunterdale deconstruction is underway with Hartland on site. The Newsome CDBG drainage improvements, performed by KCH contracting, are slated for substantial completion on Dec. 24. The county has contracted with JVC Kenwood for a radio project expected to be completed in 2026.
Staff briefed the board that Jay Randolph has started as the community development and planning director and that a new custodian, Alicia Majette, began Oct. 2. The administrator said he will advertise for an emergency services coordinator and a facilities management position (both budgeted at half-year in the FY25 budget) and anticipates filling them by January if qualified candidates apply.
Board members asked about timelines for deconstruction and the paving schedule for Darden Scout Road; staff indicated drainage work must finish before paving and that contractors will begin pavement work soon. Insurance adjusters are working on fairground wind-damage claims and the county expects to cover damages aside from a roughly $5,000 deductible.
Next steps: Staff will follow up on paving schedules, finalize radio project timelines, and advertise the twobudgeted positions.
