Western Tidewater Free Clinic thanks Southampton County for $29,000 support; reports local patient metrics

Rob Estes, a board member of the Western Tidewater Free Clinic, briefed the Southampton County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 22 and thanked supervisors for a $29,000 county allocation for fiscal 2024-25.
Estes said the funding will enable the clinic to provide comprehensive care for about 20 Southampton County residents during the year, estimated at roughly 180 visits, and highlighted that in the first six months of 2024 the clinic assisted 107 county residents through 532 visits. He said county residents received more than $100,000 in free medications during that period and that the clinic has served thousands of unique patients since opening.
Estes invited board members to tour the clinic and said the county's investment leverages additional donated and grant-supported services that increase access to medical, dental and mental-health care for underserved residents.
Next steps: The clinic will continue operations with county support and provide a follow-up report to the county as needed.
