Board approves county purchase of mower for fairgrounds; staff to present appropriation at Tuesday meeting

The Southampton County Board moved to purchase a zero-turn mower for the county-owned fairgrounds after the fair board requested new equipment. Staff said the mower cost from a local dealer is about $13,600 and recommended the county pay up front with the fair board repaying over three to four years. "They would like the county to purchase the lawnmower and that they pay us back monthly, the cost of that, somewhere over 3 or 4 years," a staff presenter said.
A supervisor moved the appropriation and another seconded; a voice vote recorded ayes. Staff will prepare formal appropriation paperwork for the board's regular meeting on Tuesday.
