The Grand Island City Council approved a conditional‑use permit on Feb. 10 allowing Industrial Tower West to install a 50‑foot telecommunications light pole with concealed antennas at 1231 Allen Drive (south of West 13th Street).
City staff said the proposed site meets the requirements for a conditional use in the general business zone and that submitted materials include aesthetic simulations and required documentation. An applicant representative described the design as a concealed antenna installation located in a commercially active area and emphasized efforts to match site materials and landscaping. "We chose this specific targeted area because we're pretty much halfway between our tower site...and it will fit into the neighborhood and should not stand out," the representative said.
Council president O'Neil moved to approve the conditional‑use permit; Connolly seconded and the council adopted the resolution. Conditions included site upkeep and limiting tower height to 50 feet inclusive of antennas.
