Statehouse candidate introduces run; nonprofit pitches Tech Lab for adults with developmental disabilities

Rose Lounsbury of 222 Wonderly Avenue in Oakwood introduced herself as a candidate for state representative in Ohio’s 36th district, which includes downtown Dayton, East Dayton, Oakwood, Kettering and Riverside. Lounsbury, a former public-school teacher, said her top priorities are protecting public schools and restoring fair school funding. She criticized Ohio’s universal education-choice voucher program, saying it "is currently siphoning about $1,000,000,000 dollars a year from our public schools," and invited commissioners to meet with her during her campaign.
Peggy DuVois (Helping Lives) described a new Tech Lab program that teaches adults with developmental disabilities to use computers and smartphones, practice online safety, and build employment-related digital skills. DuVois said the program expands daytime supports, creates local jobs for trained staff, and leverages Medicaid-funded services; she asked the commission to consider partnerships to support inclusion, accessibility and digital equity.
Both speakers left contact information and asked staff and commissioners to follow up on engagement and partnership opportunities.
