Mayor: Eli Lilly to build $6 billion campus in Huntsville; city plans infrastructure work

"Eli Lilly announced that they were building a $6,000,000,000 campus," the mayor said, calling the project a major economic development success for the city. He described a multi-year build schedule in which up to 3,000 construction workers would be employed over the project's four-year construction window and said the completed plant would employ roughly 450 workers on site.
Council members and the mayor framed the project as a catalyst for broader recruitment and supplier opportunities. Councilmember Kling called it one of the largest industrial developments in state history and praised the intergovernmental and regional teamwork behind the agreement.
The mayor said the city will pursue planning and funding efforts, including travel to Washington, to prepare infrastructure and other supports so the region can host the project and the eventual workforce needs.
