Nassau County honors employees: Engineers Week proclamation and employees of the quarter

The Nassau County Board of County Commissioners used part of its Feb. 18 meeting to present proclamations and employee recognitions, including a proclamation for National Engineers Week and certificates for the county’s Employees of the Quarter.
The board approved a proclamation to recognize Feb. 22–28 as National Engineers Week; commissioners praised the engineering staff for public‑sector service. "So we're grateful to you and all the engineers on staff," one commissioner said, thanking engineers who chose county service over higher private‑sector pay.
The board presented Employee of the Quarter certificates to Amy Bell, operations manager in the county manager’s office, and Crystal Rollerson, an animal control officer with Animal Services. Brandy Carvalho, director of strategic advancement, said Bell stepped in to lead a critical department and "led that team with professionalism and compassion." Amy Bell thanked colleagues and reflected on public service in a 20‑year career: "In my 20 years of public service... I learned so much," she said, and encouraged adoption of shelter animals. Rollerson’s supervisors praised her willingness to take on new tasks and her advocacy for animals.
The meeting also recognized employees for years of service across departments. Director Marsh introduced Sharon Johns of the Office of Management & Budget for 20 years of service; Fire Rescue Chief Rick Pinder introduced Chad Edwards and Capt. Sean Watts for their contributions; and department leaders honored Terry Price for 30 years in the road department.
These items were presented as proclamations and recognition; no substantive policy actions were taken on the recognitions themselves.
