Council approves $260,704 contract to remodel Fire Station 1; project largely funded by impact fees

Fire Chief Harris presented a contract for the remodel of Fire Station 1 on March 9, and the council authorized the mayor to sign the contract that night.
"Tonight, you have in front of you a contract for the remodel at Station 1," Chief Harris told the council, describing a $260,704 contract intended to expand the kitchen and dining areas, add storage and workstation space upstairs, replace flooring and paint the second floor, and include a small outdoor cooking area. Staff said approximately 90% of the contract ($~235,000) will be paid from fire-impact fees and that construction will be managed by the public-works department.
Council moved and approved the contract by voice vote with no opposition. Members thanked Chief Harris for his leadership and noted the station project had been discussed previously during capital-facility planning.
