Circle Lake Improvement District board expansion approved after public hearing

Rice County held a public hearing on Jan. 27 on a petition from the Circle Lake Improvement District to increase its board from seven to nine members. Dean Sunderland, chairman of the improvement district, said the district’s workload has increased and the board unanimously supports expanding the membership to allow new members room to acclimate before experienced members' terms expire.
County staff confirmed proper notice was posted and that no mailed comments had been received beyond the district’s request. After the public comment period closed, the board adopted Resolution No. 26‑066 to increase the board membership from seven to nine.
The chair said an official copy of the resolution would be provided to the district. No county funding change or operational detail beyond membership size was approved as part of the action.
