Rice County approves Lawndale road funding support and awards $460,000 road-repair contract

Dennis Luby of the county highway department asked the Board to approve two items: a resolution supporting the City of Lawndale's application for local road improvement funding to MnDOT (Resolution 25-051) and the award of contract #25-76 for soil stabilization on County Road 11 Roberts Lake Boulevard following 2024 flooding.
Luby recommended awarding the contract to Carl Bolander & Sons, the low bidder at $460,000, and said the work will be 100% funded by the state aid emergency account. He noted prior bids had been higher (previous low bid had been $617,000) and that timing and bidder availability affected outcomes. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved both the resolution supporting Lawndale's application and the contract award on voice votes.
Next steps: County highway staff will proceed with contracting and schedule the repair work next construction season using the state aid emergency funding.
