Facilities Director Chris Klub asked the board to award two contracts for conservation-building work split into part 1 (structural repairs and removal of two lean-to structures) and part 2 (roof replacement). Klub said five bidders attended mandatory pre-bid meetings and submitted proposals.
For part 1 the apparent low bidder was MCC Builders (Northfield) at $22,510; Klub noted Consulting Resources Group was disqualified from the part 1 award because their bid omitted required architectural repairs and only proposed removal of the two lean-to structures. The board moved, seconded and approved awarding part 1 to MCC Builders.
For part 2 (roof replacement) Webb Construction (Mankato) was the low bidder at $35,804; the board moved, seconded and approved awarding that contract as well.
Klub confirmed that one of the lean-to structures had already been removed and the master gardeners had relocated storage; the approved work does not include repainting of the two "ends" mentioned in questions from commissioners.
What happens next: Facilities staff will finalize contracts with MCC Builders and Webb Construction and oversee the work according to bid documents; staff noted scheduling and some non-covered repainting will be managed separately.
Votes and motions: Motions to award both parts to the low bidders were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.
