Commission OKs temporary no-through-truck signs during County Road 121 resurfacing

Nassau County commissioners voted Jan. 21 to authorize temporary "No Through Trucks / Local Deliveries Only" signage on County Road 121 during a resurfacing and safety improvement project.
Staff explained that current detours have routed some heavy trucks onto Horseshoe Circle, a roadway with mixed paving and dirt sections that staff said is not suitable for semi-trucks. "At the moment, [the contractor is] detouring some traffic onto Horseshoe Circle...it's not an ideal location to send semi trucks through there," the presenter said, adding that residents had raised concerns.
Commissioner Grace moved approval of the signage plan; the board approved the item 4-0. The action directs designated staff to install no-through-truck signage on the specified segment for the duration of construction.
The action is intended as a temporary traffic-control measure while County Road 121 rehabilitation is underway; staff said enforcement and any longer-term changes can be revisited if needed.
