Board authorizes $2.42 million purchase of 134‑acre riverfront parcel

Assistant County Attorney Beth Moore briefed the board on the purchase and the first amendment to the agreement, saying the change reflected a negotiated lower price after two appraisals and that closing would likely occur on Friday, Jan. 30, if the board approved the agreement. “If this item is approved, we will move forward to closing, which would likely be this Friday, January 30,” Moore said.
Commissioner Martin moved approval; a second was recorded. The motion passed unanimously.
Why it matters: The county will hold the riverfront parcel for the public; the acquisition represents a multi‑million‑dollar land purchase that county staff said followed due diligence and appraisal work.
