BSO warns of organized iPhone package thefts; fire department reports 112 EMS calls in September

A Broward Sheriff's Office representative told the City of Parkland commission on Oct. 1 that deputies are investigating an organized theft ring targeting packages of iPhones across the county and asked residents to reroute deliveries to workplaces or secure lockers to reduce theft risk.
"We are investigating an organized, theft group basically that is stealing packages containing iPhones," the BSO representative said, and asked residents to use delivery alternatives if they will not be home.
Zach Roseboom of the Coral Springs Parkland Fire Department reported 112 EMS calls and two fire calls in Parkland during September. Roseboom also announced community events including the Parkland Dash on Oct. 13 and the department's annual spaghetti dinner for cancer awareness on Oct. 19.
The BSO speaker said the investigation is ongoing and requested public assistance; the commission did not take action at the meeting beyond receiving the updates.
