Nassau County commissioners appoint Vanessa Stubbs to Amelia Island Tree Commission; schedule Dec. 1 workshop on impact fees

The Nassau County Board of County Commissioners on Nov. 19 approved a series of routine actions and community announcements, including appointing Vanessa Stubbs to the Amelia Island Tree Commission and scheduling a workshop on mobility and impact fees.
During new business staff said the planning department conducted interviews and recommended Vanessa Stubbs for a three-year citizen representative term on the Amelia Island Tree Commission, pending court approval. Mister Ironman told the board that staff’s recommendation was complete; Commissioner Martin moved to appoint Stubbs, Commissioner McCullough seconded, and the motion passed 3-0.
The board also scheduled an additional mobility and comprehensive impact fee update workshop for Monday, Dec. 1, 2025 at 4 p.m. Mister Ironman said staff and lobbyists have engaged with the Northeast Florida Builders Association and local builders and that the Dec. 1 workshop would precede a Dec. 8 meeting when the board could consider adopting amendments to impact or mobility fees. Commissioner Martin moved to approve Tab W; Commissioner McCullough seconded and the motion passed 3-0.
The board approved the consent agenda at the start of the meeting (motion by Commissioner Martin; second by Commissioner McCullough), and no members of the public registered to speak on consent or new business items.
Commissioner McCullough used her time to notify residents of local Thanksgiving assistance: a drive-through Thanksgiving blessing boxes giveaway at Franklin Equipment Sales on Wednesday and a pickup Saturday, Nov. 22 at 10 a.m. with 50 boxes available. She also mentioned partner efforts including Gracie’s Kitchen and The Storehouse in Callahan. Commissioner Martin said he and Chair Huttman planned to attend the Florida Association of Counties legislative policy conference and watch for property tax reform developments.
Chair Huttman closed the meeting with holiday remarks and noted an upcoming reorganization meeting in the next one to two weeks.
